Star Wars: Vintage collectables to be displayed at Sussex museum

A collection of Star Wars toys is to go on display in a museum in one of the biggest exhibitions of merchandise from the movie series.

May The Toys Be With You celebrates the collectable vintage toys from the Star Wars universe as well as original cinema posters and artwork from the George Lucas movies.

The collection, which includes a model Death Star and Millennium Falcon from 1978, will be on show in Chichester in October.

Matt Fox, who collected the Star Wars toys and curated the exhibition, said: “From X-Wing Fighters to Lightsabers, these fantastic designs have fired our imaginations and stamped their place on our cultural landscape.

“This exhibition has broken visitor attendance records at a host of museums around the country and we’re excited to now bring it to The Novium Museum in Chichester.”

Also included in the collection are the original Star Wars figurines from 1978 including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.

Chichester District Councillor Jess Brown-Fuller said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing this fascinating exhibition to Chichester, which will appeal to fans of all ages. This is an unmissable opportunity to view many rarely seen Star Wars treasures.”

May The Toys Be With You opens in Chichester on Saturday, October 7, and will run until April 2024.
